In "Chapter 1: Soul Burning," the story introduces a chilling scene of a merciless assassin with supernatural strength, wreaking havoc in an orphanage. This formidable killer slaughters the orphans, setting the room ablaze, and displaying a disturbing fascination with destruction. Amidst the chaos, a boy named Shino hides, struggling for survival against the smoke and flames.

As the fire rages and the assassin continues his brutal spree, Shino's friend, Nix, arrives to confront the killer. Tragically, Nix falls victim to the assassin's violence, leaving Shino devastated. In the midst of the chaos, the building's structure begins to collapse, and a mysterious figure in a brown cloak appears.
The cloaked figure confronts the assassin, revealing they were sent on a mission to keep the death toll at zero. The assassin's reckless violence prompts displeasure in his comrade. As the cloaked figure and the assassin retreat, Shino manages to escape the burning orphanage, but not without grievous losses. Nix's death leaves Shino in despair.

This event was later nicknamed the “Matchbox Massacre” because the orphanage went up in flames as quickly as a matchbox struck alight, leaving nothing but ash and the haunting memory of lost children.
